ELECTORAL COLLEGE

The electoral college that chooses the President was an institution created as a compromise to accommodate states which relied on slave labor for their economy. In those state at the time, slaves outnumbered the white-voting men. It was created to give those slave-states' greater voting power and shift the balance in their favor. There's absolutely no reason for us to continue having this racist institution in a Democratic-Republic nation where slavery was deemed inhumane and immoral by our governments & the courts.

 

We are the only highly-economically-developed democratic nation that does not elect our President through the will of the people. The popular vote should elect the President and I call for the elimination of the electoral college institution through a constitutional amendment.
