WOMEN'S RIGHTS

Women earn just 77 cents for every 1 dollar a man makes. Gender inequality is very important, but it is also about sustaining the institution of family. Family is pinnacle to a prosperous society.

I support amending the Equal Pay Act with the Paycheck Fairness Act which would ban employers from asking candidates how much they made in their previous jobs. It would get rid of employer rules that keep workers from talking about their salary information, and it would require employers to report salary data with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for transparency.

I will also support legislation for full paid paternity-leave. The U.S. is the only developed nation in the world without a national paid family leave policy. There's no reason a parent cannot be with their baby right after birth when the baby needs the parent the most. I am in support of The Family Act that would offer mothers and fathers (as well as caregivers and the seriously ill) up to $1,000 per week in wage reimbursement for up to 12 weeks of leave.

And we must respect women's choice with their own bodies and not restrict their access to an all-ready difficult decision and anything after the viability point should be determined by the individual's unique circumstances as well as the health care professional's judgment based on acknowledged clinical practice standards.
